Value Engineering - Signature Project

Detroit River International Crossing Value Engineering/Value Planning Study

As part of the Canadian Environmental Assessment phase of the Detroit River International Crossing project, McCormick Rankin was engaged by the Border Transportation Partnership to conduct a value engineering and value planning study of route alternatives on the Canadian approach to the crossing. Representing government agencies from Canada, the United States, the Province of Ontario and the State of Michigan, the Border Transportation Partnership is tasked with reducing congestion and improving border capacity in the Windsor-Detroit Gateway area.

As part of this work our road safety team developed a probabilistic risk-based methodology to examine differences in the likely overall safety performance of the various design alternatives and identify key engineering design areas in which opportunities for value added improvements appeared to exist.
