Nova Scotia Roadside Barrier PolicyDelphi-MRC assisted the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation & Public Works in developing and implementing a roadside barrier policy. Along with the preparation of a Policy Statement and Technical Guide, this unique project applied the US Federal Highway Administration's Road Safety Analysis Program (RSAP) to develop cost-effectiveness based embankment warrant nomographs customized to reflect Nova Scotia conditions. The policy was then applied to several roadway test sections with very different roadway characteristics to gain a thorough understanding of how the policy would impact barrier deployment on highway rehabilitation projects. During this phase of the work roadside obstacles were identified and practical countermeasures to reduce the severity of collisions resulting from these obstacles were developed. « Return to Road Safety Analysis
