Rural Intersection Safety Handbook
Our road safety group recently developed a non-technical safety handbook for rural intersections, aimed at workers in the field. The project included a survey of Canadian municipal and provincial road agencies to assess road safety information needs with respect to designing or upgrading rural intersections under their jurisdiction. A thorough literature search was conducted to determine proven countermeasures, complete with collision reduction effectiveness and overall cost effectiveness. The handbook is expected to be published by Transport Canada in 2006.
