Research and development are the keys to building new knowledge in any science. Road safety engineering is no exception to this rule, and in spite of the fact that many aspects of engineering practice are well codified and defined in guidelines of practice and warrants, the process of continuing to build the science continues apace. Within the McCormick Rankin organization, we have access to a wide variety of skillsets ranging from road safety engineering, through road design, traffic engineering, structural engineering, traffic and transportation planning, traffic simulation, and statistical analysis. We draw on these skillsets in various combinations to assemble strong, multidisciplinary teams that can develop new knowledge and techniques to help respond to often unique and challenging transportation engineering questions posed by our clients in both the public and private sectors. This type of work is normally the result of direct commissions.
